STRENGHTENING COOPERATION WITH ORTHODOX YOUTH IN LATIN AMERICA

SYNDESMOS, the World Fellowship of Orthodox Youth, is a federation of Orthodox youth movements and theological schools around the world. An internship is being undertaken by Alina Bedran at the SYNDESMOS headquarters in Greece to strengthen cooperation with Orthodox constituencies in Latin America.

TOWARDS AN ECUMENICAL VISION

Chaos is the context of Nina Nayoan’s internship on community development with the Student Christian Movement (SCM). The SCM has quite a mixture of people from both West and East Timor. During the violence and fighting, most SCMers fled to the villages. There are now roughly 130,000 Internally Displaced People (IDP), and they are all living in make-shift tents, some provided by the Catholic Church, or in compounds such as parks and empty pieces of land which are patrolled by either the Australian troops or the UN troops.

THE ONE WHO WILL SERVE THERE

Following his selection as the intern to undertake the project in Haiti, Cuban Baptist pastor Ezequiel Batista got permission from his church to take a special course at the university to enhance his skills as a rehabilitation and orientation and mobility (O&M) instructor, needed for his work among people with impaired vision. His internship just started last January 2007.
