The Senior Advisors Program
The Senior Advisors Program expresses FIM's commitment to the ecumenical sharing
of resources by providing senior ecumenical leaders who have recently retired
ways to continue to share their expertise and experience with the larger community.
Too often much needed experience is lost to the community because of the constraints
of retirement laws or conditions. FIM will also support means through which
the experience of senior persons can be shared with young people who are in
early stages of their ecumenical life and work.
Who is eligible
Communities that want to receive a Senior Advisor may propose a project to
FIM. Individuals may apply to become Senior Advisors if they are currently
part of a community engaged in justice concerns. Projects are developed through
a variety of ecumenical and community-based organizations. Candidates to become
Senior Advisors are invited to propose new projects. Applications may be submitted
at any time during the year.
Senior Advisors are persons fifty years of age or older who have retired.
They have significant international ecumenical experience and:
• maintain an active commitment to the ecumenical movement
• are willing to serve as advisors to FIM
• are willing to serve as mentors to frontier interns
• are willing to engage in special short-term projects
Senior
Advisors Program Projects and Focus Areas
Senior Advisor Projects are related to the skills of a person and developed
in consultation with regional ecumenical councils and international ecumenical
and confessional bodies. Priorities for projects are based on the focus areas
of FIM.
